D50 Continues to Show Tremendous Progress on SC READY
On Monday, August 10, the South Carolina Department of Education released the 2025 - 2026 school year results of the South Carolina College and Career Ready Assessments (SC READY) in the subject areas of English Language Arts (ELA) and Math for students in grades 3-8. The South Carolina Department of Education also released the 2025-2026 school year results of the SC READY in the subject area of Science for students in grades 4 and 6. 
District 50 continued to show significant improvement in the subject areas of ELA, Math, and Science. For the third consecutive year, District 50 outperformed the state average on SC READY ELA and Math in grades 3 - 5. District 50 also outperformed the state average on SC READY ELA in grade 7 and Math in grades 6 and 7. District 50 also continued its trend of outperforming the state in the subject area of Science in Grade 4.
Superintendent Shane Goodwin said, “Our students, teachers, and families should be extremely proud of these results. This progress reflects not only the hard work of our students and the dedication of our educators, but also the intentional strategies we have implemented to strengthen teaching and learning across the district. The support of our instructional coaches, extended instructional time in English and Math, adjustments to our middle school schedules, and designated reading time have allowed us to provide more focused support for students. While we celebrate this progress, we remain committed to building on these strategies and ensuring every student has the resources, instruction, and support needed to succeed.”
Based on information provided by the State Department, the overall state performance in Math improved significantly due to a focus on Tier 1 instruction and using data as a tool for improvement, elevation, and celebration. The State Department also highlighted the statewide progress made with pupils in poverty and setting high expectations for every student.
Greenwood School District 50 improved in the following areas on the SC READY tests from 2025 to 2026:
Greenwood School District 50 increased the percentage of students in the Meets or Exceeds Expectations categories on SC READY ELA in grades 3, 4, 7, and 8.

The South Carolina Department of Education also released the 2025-2026 results for
the End-of-Course Examination Program (EOCEP) and SC Career Readiness Assessments.
Recent changes to the state's math standards require students to take Geometry prior to Algebra 1. For this reason, the district does not have any Algebra 1 scores on which to report from the 2025-26 school year.
Both Biology and English 2 showed improvement over last school year.
In their third year of high school, students take the WIN Career Readiness test. In 2025-26, a higher percentage of students received a credential than students in the prior school year.
Each year, students with limited English proficiency are assessed in their ability to listen, read, write, and speak English. The district had a higher percentage of students scoring proficient than in 2024-25, and a higher percentage than the state.
