D50 Announces Leadership Changes

Evans Selected as Interim Executive Director of Secondary Education


Chad Evans has been named as the new Interim Executive Director of Secondary Education in Greenwood School District 50. Evans is currently the Director of Evaluation for the district, a position he has held for the last four years. Prior to becoming a district administrator, Evans was the Principal of Greenwood High School for six years. During his 27 years in District 50, Evans has served as an administrator, teacher, and athletic coach.  Evans graduated from Erskine College in 1996 and went on to earn a Masters Degree in Educational Leadership from Clemson University. 


“I am excited to begin this new chapter in my professional career,” Mr. Evans said. “I look forward to working with our secondary administrators and teachers as we prepare our students to become college and career ready.”


Current Executive Director Dr. Charles Costner is leaving the district for another career opportunity in Virginia. 


Dr. Smith Selected as Interim Director of Evaluation


Dr. Molly Smith has been selected as the new Interim Director of Evaluation. 


Dr. Smith is currently the Director at the Early Childhood & Montessori School, a position she has held for the past four years. Prior to becoming the Director at ECMS, Dr. Smith served as a principal, instructional specialist, and science teacher in District 50. Dr. Smith graduated from Saint Mary’s of Notre Dame in 2000, and continued at Clemson University, where she received her Master’s in Educational Leadership, and The University of South Carolina, where she received her Ph.D. in Educational Administration.


Superintendent Steve Glenn stated: “We are thrilled to have two phenomenal educators moving into new roles in our district.” Dr. Glenn stated. “We appreciate the work of Dr. Costner in his time with the district and wish him and his family the best with his new career opportunity. Our district will continue to grow and improve thanks to the dedicated leadership and hard work of Mr. Evans and Dr. Smith.”
