“I am grateful for the opportunity to continue to serve the students of D50 and look forward to servicing the district in this capacity,” said Gast.
Prior to working for Greenwood School District 50, Gast worked in Charleston County and Berkeley County. During her tenure with D50, Gast has served as a school psychologist for Woodfields Elementary School, Brewer Middle School, and Emerald High School. She is currently the Elementary Coordinator of Special Services and teaches Psychology at Lander University.
Gast is currently a doctoral candidate in Clemson University’s Ed.D. Program, participating in Clemson University’s LEADERS program as a coach, serving on the Pyramid PIECES Leadership Team, and serving on the South Carolina Association of School Psychologist board.
Superintendent Steve Glenn said, “Mrs. Gast has a proven track record of success working in our Special Services Department. She has already built a great rapport with parents, students, and employees in the program. I’m confident that she will excel in her new role in our district.”
Current Interim Director of Special Services, Cristy Hyduke, will become the Elementary Coordinator of Special Services effective January 2, 2023. Hyduke plans to retire at the end of the 2022-2023 school year.
