D50 Announces New Safety Procedures for Major Events Following GHS Jamboree

During tonight’s Board of Trustees meeting, District 50 Superintendent Dr. Steve Glenn announced several new safety procedures and protocols for future major events within the district.

“First off, I would like to thank our local law enforcement and school administrators for swiftly responding to the incident that happened at Greenwood High School on Friday night,” Dr. Glenn stated. “Law enforcement and school administration will continue to work together to question and identify individuals who were involved in the incident. Please note that any students identified as instigators or tauntors during this incident will be disciplined.”

The following safety procedures will be implemented immediately in the district:

  • No congregating outside or inside the stadium
    • All spectators must find a seat in the stands
  • Limited number of tickets sold at the gate
    • Tickets can be purchased online or at specific locations in the community selling cash tickets
  • Portable fencing near the concession stand area
  • Only students with a high school ID will be allowed to attend games
    • Students without a high school ID must be accompanied by an adult

“We will implement other safety measures that can not be announced to the public at this time,” Dr. Glenn stated. “Our goal is to create a memorable experience for our student-athletes and spectators attending any of our athletic events. We appreciate the continued support of our local law enforcement and school administration in helping to keep our students and community safe.”
