Greenwood School District 50 is the largest school district in Greenwood County. D50 serves 9,145 students at 15 sites: 8 elementary schools, 3 middle schools, 2 high schools, a technology center, and one alternative center.

The South Carolina High School League has implemented a new policy effective July 1, 2025 regarding middle school students playing sports at the high school level.
Our middle schools will hold their student orientation day on July 21, 2025. These orientations will also serve as the Open/Title 1 orientations for all middle schools.
Our elementary schools recently announced the date and times for their student orientations. These orientations will also serve as the Open/Title 1 Orientations for all elementary schools.
Jim Still has been named as Interim Principal at Greenwood High School. Still is currently completing his fourth year as the Director at the G. Frank Russell Technology Center. Jessica Sprouse has been named as the Interim Director of the G. Frank Russell Technology Center. Sprouse currently serves as the Assistant Director at the Technology Center, a position she has held for the last two years.
Merrick Owen has been named the new Assistant Director of Special Services for the 2025-2026 school year. Owen is currently the Special Education Compliance Coordinator in Chester County School District, a position she has held since 2022.
