D50 Announces Three Superintendent Finalists

The Greenwood 50 Board of Trustees voted on May 24 to select three candidates as finalists for the position of Superintendent.

 

The three finalists are (in alphabetical order):

Sherri Forrest served as the Chief Academic Office and Executive Director to the Superintendent for Atlanta Public Schools. Prior to that she served as a School Effectiveness Specialist with the Georgia Department of Education, Director of Continuous Improvement and Program Director for School Support and Turnaround for Atlanta Public Schools. She was Coordinator of School Improvement in Hillsborough County Schools, Regional Associate Executive Director for Florida Department of Education Region IV, District K-8 Staff Developer for Pinellas County, MSAP Curriculum Coordinator/Assistant Principal of Curriculum for Lakewood Elementary, Assistant Principal/Curriculum Specialist for Campbell Park/Gulfport Elementary, and a Teacher/Core team member at Seminole and Douglas Jamerson Elementary School. Mrs. Forrest earned her Education Specialist Degree from Argosy University, Master of Education and Bachelor of Arts from the University of South Florida.

 

Shane Goodwin currently serves as Assistant Superintendent for Administration for Frederick County Public Schools in Winchester, Virginia where he currently oversees Principals, Human Resources, Facilities Services, Information Technology, Planning and Construction, School Nutrition, Transportation, and Safety and Security. Prior to this he served as Director of Human Resources and Communication in Warren County Public Schools in Virginia. He served as a Principal and Assistant Principal in Front Royal, Virginia. He worked in the Rock Hill School District in Rock Hill, South Carolina for 22 years as Principal of Ebinport Elementary School and Sullivan Middle School, as well as Assistant Principal, Program Teacher, and Classroom Teacher. Goodwin earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Master of Arts in Teaching from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia.  He earned a Master of Education in Educational Leadership from Winthrop University and will complete a Doctor of Philosophy in Educational Leadership from Shenandoah University in Winchester, Virginia in May 2026.

 

Terrance Sanders, a South Carolina native, is the Chief Academic Officer and Deputy Superintendent for the San Marcos Consolidated Independent School District in San Marcos, Texas. He holds a Bachelor of Science from Clemson University, a Master’s degree from Winthrop University, and a Doctorate in Education from the University of Southern Mississippi. With over 20 years of experience in education, Dr. Sanders has served in various leadership roles, including Instructional Improvement Officer, Principal, Assistant Principal, Assistant Superintendent, and classroom teacher. 

 

The board made its selection of the three finalists after a thorough review of all applicants and interviews with semi-finalists on May 20-22, 2025. The finalists will be in the district on May 29 to tour schools and meet with staff. There will be a Community  Meet and Greet at Genesis Education Center that evening for D50 teachers and staff at 3:30 p.m. and community representatives at 4:30 p.m. to allow parents, staff, and community members to have an opportunity to meet all three finalists. The finalists will have their final interviews with the board that evening.
